Diane de Bournazel is a painter and illustrator who most often works on a small scale, creating illuminated works, illustrations for children's books, and producing unique, precious artists' books. Her universe is poetic, intimate, and subdued, drawing inspiration from cultures and primitive, Orientalist, or pre-Columbian art.

The tapestry Bordure des bois is an extension in size that pays tribute to the traditional borders of ancient tapestries, rich in details and layered patterns, often overlooked in favor of the central representation of the tapestry. This zoom on a woodland border opens up to other borders enclosing different scenes, which themselves form small subjects for tapestries.

The transition from illumination and illustration to tapestry is often seamless and successful. Historically, in Aubusson, this has been done with the cabbage-leaf verdures of the 16th century, later with artists originally trained in illumination such as Dom Robert in the 20th century, and with illustrations from Tolkien in the 21st century.
