Tapisserie troglodytique, Jenna Kaës & Clément Vuillier (maquette)

Presentation
Troglydytic Tapestry, Jenna Kaës and Clément Vuillier, Call for Creation 2019.
Tapestry project associated with six furniture elements created using the technique of limestone petrification.
The project aims to echo the tapestry evoking the opening of a cave, through a set of furniture crafted using the technique of limestone petrification. The objects (a wall sconce, a table lamp, a candelabra, a side table, a vase, and a coffee table) would be placed at the heart of the Gouffre de Proumeyssac (24), where technicians would create the pieces by placing the objects (textile drapes rigidified by resin) under a "petrifying" source for several years, regularly turning them.
With "The Open Work: Tapestry in Extension," the theme of the 2019 call for creation invited artists to imagine tapestry as the central piece of a contemporary artistic and decorative installation, generating around the woven work an immersive, modular space adaptable to both living spaces and exhibition areas. This would involve elements using other techniques (textile or paper prints, metal, ceramics, enamel, wood, etc.) to echo the tapestry.
Alongside the Grand Prize of Anne-Laure Sacriste and the 2nd Prize of Raphaël Barontini, the selection jury chose to retain 3 models from the 10 finalist projects of 2019 to promote this type of installation to professionals. The project by Jenna Kaës and Clément Vuillier has been retained and made available to potential commissioners.
Jenna Kaës is a graduate of ESAD Strasbourg, and Clément Vuillier was trained at the Cantonal School of Art in Lausanne.
