Amélie Bertrand combines digital creation and collage tools with her painting process. The challenge of representation is engaged in the game of resolution, adjustment, or exact vision, caught between the beam of a digital script and its faithful reproduction on the surface of the canvas. In this, gradients, color transitions, and chromatic virtuosity play out, as shapes and nuances are created—a feat that the act of painting, whether illusionistic or performative, manages to hold and provoke. Like a large figurative decoration, a pop and hybrid montage, the image stirs complex lights and forms that emerge from both the front and the background of the painting.

The sophisticated blend, almost alchemical, of representation and its transformation into textile is the central issue here. Through bold colors, the affirmation of light coming from the thread, and a choice of proximity to the textile script that inevitably synthesizes, the tapestry outwits the virtual and anchors itself in real perception. Up close, the material of the tapestry carries its intrinsic qualities; from afar, the image appears, an intense and colorful flow.
