Détail inachevé – EA 236, Raúl Illarramendi

Presentation
The artist Raúl Illarramendi combines painting and drawing to create abstract works that reinterpret the marks and stains left by humans in the urban environment on a daily basis.
"My drawings aim to give form to a subject that doesn't actually exist." He reveals what we strive not to see while playing with reserves, materials, and original colors, tricking our eyes to bring traces and gestures to life from a pictorial depth, in a new space dedicated to representing abstraction. Here, the tapestry expresses its forces, textures, points, and reliefs of warp and weft. The artist has used the craftsmanship of Aubusson and its technical writings to create a composition that blurs references to painting and forces the textile to assert itself, making the gesture anchor itself in the thick, hard, and warm woven material.
